CAN I GET CAR FROM CAIRNS AIRPORT?

YES cars can be picked up and returned to Cairns airport. There is a minimum day rental of 7 days with no extra charge. Three (3) to six(6) days has a charge of $60.00 relocation fee.

DO YOU PICK UP FROM MY HOTEL?

YES we have a free pick up from hotel within the Port Douglas area. We can also pick up your vehicle after you have finished with your hire.

IS INSURANCE INCLUDED IN THE COST?

YES, Insurance is included in the cost but the excess in high on hire vehicles. We highly recommend that for the sake of $21 you take out the extra cover to reduce your excess from $2750 to $300 - This is optional cost but remember that you are on strange roads, in a new car and site seeing. Others  may not be as cautious as you are.

CAN CARS BE TAKEN OFF ROAD?

NO, Insurance doesn’t cover you if you take the vehicles off road.
NB The majority of places in this region have sealed roads. You can go to Cooktown on the Inland Road but NOT on the Bloomfield Track

DO I HAVE TO CLEAN THE CAR BEFORE RETURNING THE VEHICLE?

NO. Vehicles go out in good condition and are expected back in the same but of course that does not mean vacuuming of interior or general dust and dirt. It is obvious if the vehicle has gone Off-road, then a cleaning cost will be incurred.

DO I PAY FOR FUEL?

YES. Vehicles go out with a full tank and must be returned with a full tank.  A $25 charge is added if this is not done.

IS THERE UNLIMITED KILOMETERS?

YES.............. excluding the Astra convertibles which have a 250 limit per day.
NB  Everything is close by e.g. Cape Tribulation is only 65 kilometres away.

WHAT DO I DO IF I DAMAGE THE VEHICLE OR HAVE AN ACCIDENT?

All damage must be report to us immediately. We have full roadside assistance for all cars.
NB Your own roadside assistance does not cover our vehicles

WHAT IF I HAVE BREAKDOWN?

We have full roadside assistance for all vehicles.
NB You must phone us to arrange this for you.

WHAT IF I LOST MY KEYS?

We have spare keys for your vehicle but cost of new key will be incurred by you. These are not cheap so hold on tight to them!! You will also incur any cost to get spare keys to you should RACQ be unable to start the immobalizer on most current cars.

WHAT IF I GET A SPEEDING FINE?

Speeding and parking fines will come to us and we will then forward your paperwork on to the appropriate department to forward to you. There will be a $50 administration cost should this occur. Stick to the Rules!!!
 

WHAT IF I’M LATE BRINGING BACK THE CAR?

Sometimes this in unavoidable and dealing with a family company is to your advantage. Please be aware that most cars are booked for the next customer and you are keeping them waiting ....try not to sleep in...ring us if you do.
NB Late fee over 1 hour will be charged at full daily rate.

DO YOU SUPPLY BABY SEATS?

YES baby seats are available. Forward, rear facing and also booster seats. These fit into all cars including Jeeps and Convertibles>
NB Beware of Sunburn with babies and toddlers in open top vehicles There is also a hire company called “Baby Equipment Hire” should you need strollers or cots etc.

DOING A “TOUR” AS OPPOSE TO “DYI”??

Of course the tour companies give you a great day but our most popular destinations are all so close to Port Douglas, Self Driving is now the most popular way of getting around.
EXAMPLE: - Should you choose to go to Kuranda via Skyrail and Train, a car gives you the flexibility of going to the Crocodile Park and Palm Cove on the way and then spend as much or as little time as you wish at each location. Even allowing you to go into Cairns to the night Markets.
NB Tour costs for transferring you to and from Skyrail from Port Douglas is between $40 - $46 per person

CAN I GO OVER THE DAINTREE RIVER TO CAPE TIBULATION?

YES, all vehicles can enjoy the trip to Cape Tribulation. The sealing of the road was completed in 2003. We have Jeep Wrangler and Astra Convertible in our fleet that will enhance the enjoyment of the Rainforest for a true holiday fun trip.
